Neon Moon Sewing Co.

About

Learning to Sew I stood in the foyer of a fast food restaurant looking at the community bulletin board. A flyer about learning how to quilt had caught my attention. I didn’t know how to sew or even own a sewing machine. It called out to me. I answered the call. I went on to attend the quilt class, a local high school teacher was leading. I was the youngest in attendance and most others where mothers of my own high school friends. Something about the way quilters and sewists come together made me feel at home. Age wasn’t an issue. Skill wasn’t an issue. I was at home. Each person was so welcoming and kind. I knew I had found a life long belonging. As any creator knows, you stumble upon things that just speak to you. Medias, colors, beads, even fabric. So it happened. I walked into a quilt store with floor to ceiling fabric and selected my first Tula print. The way she used art to hide little gems throughout her fabric really spoke to me. I felt as though her style encouraged young people to join the community of quilters and sewists. I longed to feel like my era and personal taste was represented in the fabric industry and I found it. As my dear husband, Mr. NMSC, can attest, I’ve been hooked ever since.
